Women in Mining with Chile’s Mining Minister, Aurora Williams
A recent Women in Mining breakfast to honour a visit by Chile’s Mining Minister, Aurora Williams, was held in the historic Houses of Parliament in London. Swann’s Janet Bewsey was invited to the event alongside a select number of guests holding senior positions in major mining companies, investment, private equity, legal and communications firms, and UK and Chilean diplomats, who heard Minister Williams outline her Government’s planned tax and education reform. Tertiary education has been a significant cost in Chile and she wants to introduce free university places which will help to advance the number of Chilean professional women with the technical knowledge the mining sector there requires.
Swann continues to promote diversity within natural resources globally, and with our South American presence strongly supports the step change the Chilean government is influencing in the region.
